About the Artwork
Mucha created Fruit in 1897 as one of a suite of four decorative panels alongside Flowers, Feather and Precious Stones, commissioned as standalone decorative prints rather than commercial advertising. By this point Mucha had already transformed the Paris poster scene with his legendary 1895 Gismonda playbill for Sarah Bernhardt, and his distinctive style, the halo-framed female figure, the interlocking organic border, the flattened yet sensuous modelling, had become the defining visual language of the Belle Epoque Parisian aesthetic. The four-panel nature series allowed him to explore pure decorative ambition free from the constraints of a product message. Art Nouveau as a movement was reaching its creative apex in Paris between 1895 and 1900, and these panels circulated widely as lithographic prints, entering private collections and interior schemes across Europe and the United States. The series is now held in major collections including the Mucha Museum in Prague, and remains among the most reproduced works in his catalogue.

Care: Dust lightly with a soft, dry cloth as needed. Avoid direct sunlight to preserve the colors. Avoid hanging in high-humidity environments (bathrooms with active showers). Our finish is durable but is not waterproof.
