Your Canvas Classic is made from museum-grade materials and built to outlast the room it hangs in. A few simple practices keep it looking the way it should.
How to care for your piece.
Most of this is common sense for canvas art. It's all here in one place.
Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth. Wipe lightly across the canvas surface in the direction of the brushwork. Don't press hard, the gesso layer holds the texture and pressing can flatten it over time.
Never use water, glass cleaner, furniture polish, or solvents on the canvas or frame. The archival inks and gesso are sensitive to liquids. If you have a stubborn mark, contact us before you try anything.
Our archival HP Latex inks are rated to hold color for a century indoors, but prolonged direct sunlight will fade any pigment over decades. Hang your piece where it gets ambient daylight rather than direct beam.
Canvas and wood are happiest between 30–50% relative humidity. Avoid hanging directly above a humidifier, a fireplace, or a bathroom with poor ventilation. The Appalachian poplar stretcher is dimensionally stable, but extreme swings stress every painting.
Our frames include wire on the back for easy hanging. Use wall anchors rated for at least 2× the piece's weight: Small ~5 lb, Medium ~8 lb, Large ~14 lb, Estate ~22 lb. For Estate-size pieces, anchor into a wall stud whenever possible.
The resin gallery frames are durable but not invincible. If you ever need a small touch-up after a move or scuff, contact us, and we'll assist as we are able.
