John Gould

John Gould (1804-1881) published the great Victorian bird books, and the hummingbird plates from A Monograph of the Trochilidae are the finest ornithological prints ever made. Gould and his collaborators lit each bird so the iridescence reads as metal, then set it against foliage drawn with equal care. Hung as a set, they are among the most decorative images in natural history. Every work is reproduced on museum-grade cotton canvas with archival giclee printing, printed to order and hand-framed in your choice of Gold, Silver, or Dark Bronze, sized Small through Estate.
